Unit 44 a Science Fiction Humor Comic Book Kickstarter Project
Project by Wes Locher and Eduardo Jimenez

This is one of those comic book ideas you want to see dragged out as a very long very funny series. The premise is that Unit 44 is the story of Area 51 employees, Agent Gibson and Agent Hatch, who forget to pay the rent on the facility’s off-site storage unit, and the super-secret contents are sold at public auction. When an alien invasion threatens the safety of planet Earth, Gibson and Hatch must recover an item from the locker if they hope to stop the extraterrestrial threat.
The art work is amazingly funny already for the rush imagery that is on Kickstarter. The two guys Chester Watking and his friend pick up the contents of the storage unit, and are drawn as red neck as they could be. These two are a couple of down on their luck chasing any idea to make money bubba gump kind of people. In all the potential of this project is amazing, the idea is one of those few original creative ideas that really has the potential to be fun for kids, fun for parents, making family reading time with comic book something plausible. There are so few new comics that come out that are PG that have the potential to be a good cross over for everyone in the family to love.

Yes we decided to sponsor this project mostly because of the potential for the story line, and we will follow up in a bit to see how things are going with it. We are looking at a year off for the delivery of the project but they are also almost at two grand of the nine grand that they need to pull this project off. At the time of writing they have 23 more days.
We don’t really sponsor that many projects on Kickstarter, really just the ones that have a good solid sense of humor like Yuki VS Panda, or are quirky enough to be something wonderful in its own weird way. Unit 44 has a lot of the same potential to be something amazingly funny, amazingly weird, and with a brilliant cast of proposed characters that are stereotypical enough to play on everything we think about with MIB’s, UFO’s, Area 51, general government incompetence only offset by the general down to earth red neck folks who get wrapped up in something they simply didn’t plan on happening today.
You should go check this puppy out and see if it is worth sponsoring in its own right for you and your tastes. I don’t think you will be disappointed, we see the potential here, and it could end up being one of the best family friendly down right funny comic books to come out in 2014.
