Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con 2013 Cosplay Contest Photos
What a wild and crazy place to go for a comic book convention. I seriously had a good time, if the security guards would have gotten off my butt about taking pictures in the hallway and photo bombing me right and left. The good folks at Wizard World Philly let me ride side saddle during the Cosplay contest as long as I was cool and didn’t get in the way (ok that happened once, sorry about that). And that was a total riot to be part of, it was a well run Cosplay contest, and here are the photos from that shoot.
This was really one of my first east coast comic cons, I have been to SPX, but that really isn’t a comic book convention, it is more of a showcase show. A place where you do all the highlights and here is the cool stuff I am doing and oh hey there is an awards ceremony along the way. Now Wizard World is a comic book convention, you are there to see cool new stuff, engage with equally or more so foaming at the mouth fans than you, and generally show off the inner nerd you might not be able to show off at work. That is what makes comic book conventions awesome, and why Philly Wizard World might just end up being a normal stop for Comics Forge.
The Cosplay contest was actually pretty special, but with all the people there who were participating, it was getting very hard to get everyone in frame. First you have 150 or so people in front of you, then you about 20 feet away, and needing that extra 10 feet to even think of getting everyone in frame at 18MM, but there are some 500 people behind you wondering why there is all that extra space in front of you, and then some wonderfully competent and delightful Wizard World stage manager trying to keep the mayhem from erupting. That was one awesome lady. So sit back and enjoy the pictures, if you see yourself in there, just right click save as a copy and give some credit back to Comics Forge. It was a good time, and really easy to get in and out of.
After all it is not every day that you get to simply land, walk on over and engage in weird mayhem and get to piss off security guards because you took a picture in the hallway. Seriously folks, when you tell me there are 9/11 reasons not to take a picture in a hallway, don’t you think you are jacking the paranoia up a bit. Take a lesson from the west coast, chill.
