James Bond Omnibus 004 from Titan Books
Printed by Titan Books
I love Titan, just so you know this is going to be biased because of all the things that Titan does, I have been reading their comic books since the mid 1980’s and loving every inch of it. Titan has been re-releasing the old weekly comic book strips for most of the most popular James Bond stories out there, and Volume 4 covers Trouble Spot, Die with by Boots on, The Girl Machine, and the Phoenix Project. If you have not read the regular books on these story lines, then you will want to pick up this copy of the graphic versions of them from Titan when it comes out. It is officially due out 09 October 2012, and is totally available on Amazon.com.
I grew up with James Bond on TV, and always dug the story lines. What is there not to like about James Bond? Some might find him sexist, some might find him too machismo, some might argue that he is representative of a day and time long past, or should be simply killed off as a throw back. But what we need to understand beyond the martini, fast cars, and women, who will give their all, is that James Bond always won against the bad guy. Of course there were always near misses as a way to keep the suspense going, but he always won and always did his duty regardless of what that duty entailed. As a hero archetype he is simply one of the best ones out there, because of the fast cars, the women, and the martini shaken, not stirred. These serials are the best of the best, the way that James Bond was experienced by millions of people worldwide in between movies, and in between syndication on TV. This was how you got your James Bond fix, and these comics are always worthy of being seen, viewed, and loved.
In my obviously biased opinion, these comics are lovingly restored and brought to print by Titan. Of course you can find them torrented, shared, and otherwise, but nothing is better than actually owning the book and reading it in print format. I am sure a kindle edition is going to come along, but for 20 bucks you can’t beat this as a way to spend a Sunday afternoon catching up on some of the stories that never made it to the movies, but did make it into print and the weekly serials. This is one book truly worth owning, so I am rating this bad boy 5 of 5 stars because it is simply wonderful. Titan has done a wonderful job here, so go get it, here is the Amazon link.
