I am a bit late to the table with this comic book series, so it is good that the number 1 issue is in its third reprint right now. It was fairly easy to find and read online, and it looks like the physical copies are going to be around for a good long time because this story is simply one of the more cool story lines in comic books that I have read lately. We open up the series with new parents of a mixed breed child named Marko and Alana, throw in some intergalactic war, some down right odd behavior on the part of everyone in the story line, and some truly unique art work from Fiona (who is a comic book artist that is worth watching) and you end up with one of the more creative and beautiful story lines in comic books lately. The first issue is a huge 48 page set up for the entire story line where we meet all the characters, and we get a pretty good idea on how this universe is going to work. I do expect to see some surprises along the way in this story line, otherwise it just would not be a Vaughan comic book.
I am going to spend days trying to figure out Prince Robot the IV, and it will be interesting to see what happens with this character, there are seeds of doom in this one. Marko and Alana, and small child are also going to end up being really interesting characters to follow through this entire story if I am not making any misses in what I am thinking is going to happen along the way with this one.
I am going to simply rate this one 5 of 5 stars, the creative team is brilliant, the art work is wonderful, and the story line is just enough quirky weird to keep you focused on the book. This one is worth getting both physical and digital, but given that there are so many copies out there, there will be no resale value on this title for a very long time. Well worth getting, reading and enjoying along the way, sometimes a little weird goes a long way, and this book has it in spades.
