I do not have the world’s first clue how I missed this one, but apparently I did miss this comic book from IDW, and after screaming through the series this weekend, I have to say I am sorry I missed it. Now I have to try to find my own copies and that is going to be downright difficult. But this one is worth noticing, anything that has the Suicide Girls in comic book format is going to appeal to the same demographic audiences, even if the Suicide Girls are pretty awesome on their own. The good part is that with this comic book we are dealing with a dystopian future where religion and corporations control everything. If you deviate from the plan, you get sent to a not too happy “way of life” prison. Nothing quite like making people disappear in the name of God or failure to appease your corporate masters. Suicide Girls of course are going to jail, they are not passing go, and they are definitely going to break rules right and left. Of course the prison is a pretty nasty place, not segregated, so all sorts of horrific things are going to happen in there. From the opening scene of ugly industrialism through the closing moments of downright amazing not going to do any spoilers, closing credits, this is a comic book that simply is awesome.
Gonzo and insane come to mind, not for the timid or faint of heart either.
This one is definitely going to be in the physical comic book collection later on down the road. It did come out a little over a year ago and surprisingly after the initial feeding frenzy few if anyone noticed this one. Seriously I have not seen this comic book for sale anywhere, not online, not in dollar comic book bins, not anywhere. That means it had to be good if people are holding on to their physical copies. After reading it online I was pretty impressed, and then I am pretty happy with anything dystopian and futuristic. This one does not disappoint the reader, and there are some awesome plot lines in here much like finding out that the Suicide Girls are really from a long line of happy women warriors who simply like to do weird things, dress awesomely, tattoo and dye their hair, and kick people’s butts. Yeah, that whole kicking butt thing is pretty awesome.
I am going to rate this one five of five stars, and going to hope that somewhere I can find the physical copies anywhere in decent shape.
