Tomorrow, 05 May 2012 is Free Comic Book Day, the one day of the year where you can go visit a comic book shop and stock up on free stuff. But it is more than that, it is a way to show comic book stores some love while they get beaten by Digital Comics, Ebay, Amazon, and other online selling venues. Free Comic Book Day is about sharing the love, and most comic book stores are very awesome to go into. In case you are interested, this is a list of comic book stores in the Seattle Area that you might want to go share the love with.
Comic Book Stores need your help; this is one way of doing it because while you are stocking up on free stuff they are hoping that there is something that you will want to purchase along the way. Get something interesting, be daring, purchase something new that you have not read before, take a risk, and learn something new.
I hope you are able to hit all of these on Saturday.
If you want to find out comic book stores that are near you, check out the comic book store locator right here at this link.
Otherwise, post pictures of your loot from tomorrow and have a blast, drive safe, have fun, take the kids or your family, or extended family. Comic books are awesome, worth finding, worth reading, worth enjoying, and worth spending time with you, the comic book, and kids. This is an amazing industry, so go find something cool, new and unusual.
Who knows you might actually find a treasure or eight or nine that are worth sharing with your friends as well.
One favor though, once you are done getting your loot, post reviews, pictures of your finds and treasures, go social with this so that others can see what you got, and help support the industry in ways that they cannot support themselves. Comic Books are increasingly becoming dependent upon word of mouth, so if you find something groovy, share it on Facebook, Twitter, G+, and any other social media site you happen to interact with on a daily basis. The comic book industry will love you, and in many cases, share your thoughts with their followers as well.
