This is it, this is the last of the story, and Onrie and company take this comic book out in style with a 48-page mega issue that is as beautifully done as the three other comic books that have gone on before it. Beautifully colored, lettered, drawn, and with just enough dynamic tension throughout the story to make this one worth purchasing and reading many times over. I have been delighted with this series since I was introduced to it earlier this year, and the finale does not disappoint the reader.
Onrie and his talented team have really built a wonderful story line based on the history of Yi Soon Shin, the admiral of the Korean fleet that hammered the Japanese in the late 1500’s, stopping an invasion of the Korean homeland at that time. Japan and Korea have always had tense relations, and the comic book series captures that wonderfully. The good part is that the writers have not shied away from some of the historical controversy, or the tragedy that was Yi Soon Shin’s life as the admiral of the Korean Fleet. I deeply respect Onrie and the rest of the group for remaining faithful and true to the historically known time line and influence that Yi Soon Shin had on Korea, and on Japan.
This one is worth owning, and it can be found online or in some local comic book shops depending their size. It can be found just about anywhere you want to find an awesome story that is executed brilliantly by this highly talented independent team. The need to get placed before SPX next year to see if they can win an award for their work.
Rating this one 5 of 5 stars, this has been a fun series to follow. The harder part for the group is what do they do to follow this one? Let us know, we would like to know what is in store for the studio now that this is done, and the hard cover is on its way next year.
