This is the final story of the Trickster God Part 4, the Hammer. And wouldn’t you know it, Raven Hex has a starring role in this issue along with Mr. Skeleton Man. Tarot is nowhere to be seen or heard of in this story. I always like stories about Raven Hex because after setting loose all the demons of hell, she floats in and out of the story lines. In this story, Raven is being held captive by Loki, and for all intents and purposes set to become his willing slave. He tortures her a lot by exposing her to a gods thought, which have an interesting if erotic effect on the witches mind. She has no way of stopping it, but knows that eventually this will kill her. At the point of ultimate submission to Loki, she finds the strength to let loose with every power she has in an attempt to kill Loki, but fails, and is either killed or transported to somewhere else so that she can be brought back later. It is also at this time that Mr. Skeleton Man shows up with Thor’s Hammer and ready to do battle with Loki to free Raven.
Unfortunately, though the Goddess of the Underworld stops Mr. Skeleton Man from killing Loki. After all he is there with Thor’s hammer, and Loki is on the ground after being pretty severely beaten by Mr. Skeleton Man, but Loki’s time to die is not today, and we flash back to Mr. Skeleton Man’s house where he is trying to put things right in his own life. We do not know if Loki is killed or not, only that the Goddess of the Underworld forbids Loki’s death. There is little nudity in this one, but the story line is interesting in how far Mr. Skeleton Man will go for his love, and a little quiet around the house.
It has been interesting watching the progression of this story, and having any story line feature Raven Hex almost exclusively is always a treat. There is the usual rating on this one, five of five stars because it is all around awesome. With the usual caveat that I am a huge Tarot fan to go along with that rating. There is a lot of violence in this one, little nudity, and not the average story. Again, this is a story line that is well worth picking up in either digital or physical copy. You can purchase it easily online, or at the Broadsword studio site, or digitally through Broadsword Digital.
