One of the things we really wanted to do was spend a couple of minutes with randomly chosen people to ask them why they were at Small Press Expo 2011, and what advice they would give to starting comic book authors and writers. The second interview was with R. M. Rhodes, a local artist from Virginia. His web site can be found at http://oletheros.com/ and he has some very interesting work on his web site. What drew me to him for the interview was that he was handing out some interesting propaganda called “Practical Ideas for the Passionate Comics Reader” that was about fall down funny. Seriously hitting all the numbers on how we stereotype ourselves as comic book fans and readers. Well worth checking out his web site and his work. While he does not primarily use comics as his only way of making money, it is interesting what he is doing, and his approach to comics and the industry at large.
