A Cat Named Haiku is an interesting comic published by Arcana geared towards children 6 years old and up. It tells the story of a rambunctious cat by the name of Haiku and his various misadventures around the house that land him in the hot seat when his owner Mark catches him climbing the curtains. What makes this comic so different and unique is the fact that the entire story is told through a series of Haiku style poems.
I’m always looking for something different to read outside of my comfort zone and it often leads to discovering some truly amazing series that I would of otherwise of missed out on. A Cat Named Haiku is a prime example of this phenomena and a reminder to myself to always keep an open mind and never stop searching for new and unfamiliar experiences. This is a great read and the perfect series to introduce young ones to the wonderful world of reading in a very colorful and imagination stirring medium that is sure to keep their attention until the very end. At the same time, you are able to also expose young minds to poetry and fuel their creativity.
While this book is geared towards young children, it is also very enjoyable to adults as a fan of poetry I found myself highly enjoying A Cat Named Haiku. Parents looking for more interesting books to read to their kids will rejoice once they start to turn the pages of this comic. The story is cute and interesting and in the end teaches a great positive life lesson of forgiveness and friendship.
Anyone who knows me personally knows that I am a major cat person and love them unconditionally. Not only will children and art lovers find this book interesting but also cat lovers will instantly find themselves won over with one glimpse at the cuteness displayed by Haiku. This book has the potential to cater to so many different crowds a sign of true talent and ability to tell a story. If you are looking for a family friendly experience to share with a child, are just a lover of a will written haiku style poem, or just happen to be completely obsessed with cats I highly recommend you pick up A Cat Named Haiku.
