Brandon Jerwa needs a little help from his friends
Brandon Jerwa is one of the coolest people you could ever hope to meet and do the whole fan thing over. Did you know that that Brandon has a project up over on Kickstarter to raise awareness of the comic book industry? Did you know he wants to make a movie called “Untold Tales of the Comic Book Industry”? This is so awesome you have to go check this out and if possible donate some dosh to help him make his movie. He states on the Kickstarter comic page:
This documentary takes a look at the comic industry from the inside out, guided by writers, illustrators, editors, distributors, Hollywood storytellers, and global fans of the art form. You’ll see the genesis of our shared love of comics, and explore the inspirations that keep creators running. You’ll learn what these creators love about the industry today, and what they hope to see improved for the industry’s survival tomorrow. No topic is off the table: economics, fan culture, the industry’s need to open its ranks to include a wider range of race and gender – it’s all discussed. This film isn’t a tell-all in the scandalous sense, but it IS full of honest stories and opinions offered up by the people behind the pages. Source: Kickstarter
And they have an awesome video you can watch about the project by clicking on the link below (takes you to Vimeo)

In all this is a totally awesome thing to be doing for the comics book industry, and yes the industry while troubled still have much promise for readers. It would be wonderful to bring in the stories about what makes us tick, who we are, both from the retail, printing, online only, and artists perspective. You could not ask for a better project to donate to, and yes we coughed over 50 bucks, that means we go without Starbucks iced coffee with milk for a little over one week, it is well worth forgoing our sweet coffee treat to see if this movie can get off the ground.
