Wow! Issue #53 of Tarot: Witch of The Black Rose is one hell of a ride! I absolutely love the horror genre heavy issues and “Loose Lips” is a perfect example of high-level horror entertainment. After receiving a distress call from Crypt Girl, Skeleton Man arrives at her cemetery where he is met with a request from a group of spirits who asked for him by name. After standing in the spot where the five were killed, they are materialized into a visible form delivering an alarming message to Skeleton Man. They have used his ability to allow ghosts to materialize so they could return and reclaim body parts that they feel have been stolen from them. Organ donors who after death have changed their minds, an interesting dilemma as Skeleton Man rushes to try and stop the spirits from harming the innocent living beings who were given the body parts for various reasons.
Crypt Girl was a new character for me and provided some interesting backstory in regards to my favorite character thus far Skeleton Man. I love the design of Crypt Girl and the back story that ties her to Skeleton Man was perfect when it comes to the content of the issue overall. This has to be one of the most memorable issues of the series for me as avid horror fan with an unsatisfiable craving for gore.
I found the concept of the story arc very original and fascinating; the thought of spirits regretting their choice to donate parts of their body to help the living is a very shudder worthy one indeed. Once again showcasing the writing ability and creative minds of all those involved with the series this issue is nothing short of extraordinary. Not to mention it features one of the most eye-popping lines of dialog in any comic I have read in the form of “Samantha Brown your vagina is haunted”.
If that is not enough to peak your interest in this ghastly issue of Tarot: Witch of The Black Rose I do not know what could possibly grab your attention. Once again I walk away from another issue of this wonderful indie series salivating for my next fix of Tarot: Witch of The Black Rose.
