Part two of the three part story arc “So Mote it Be”, Issue #51 of Tarot: Witch of The Black Rose revolves around a epic battle between Tarot, Swordmaiden to the Goddess and Lord Thornwic, Swordman to the God. Infuriated when the way Lord Thornwic handled the family in Issue #50, Tarot and Lord Thornwic meet inside the Labyrinth to settle the dispute in the only fashion Lord Thornwic understands. Meanwhile Boo, Tarots lover watches with a heavy heart filled with much worry.
When it comes to epic battles with enough eye candy to make ones head feel like it is going to explode from sensory overload Tarot: Witch of The Black Rose never fails to deliver a truly memorable experience. This entire issue is one long brutal battle each panel a shift of momentum leading to the interference of my personal favorite character from the series, whose name I will not say for spoilers sake. But I assure you this the battle between Tarot and Lord Thornwic is nothing short of amazing and showcases some inspiring artwork that will take your breath away.
There is a particular panel in this issue that I found myself drooling over. Where Tarot has cast an inferno spell engulfing the area is ultra vivid red, yellow, and orange flames that cast a very realistic and impressive halo of light over Tarots skin. The glow is so natural and real looking that it caught my eye instantly when I turned to the page, everyone involved with the look of and feel of Tarot really go all out with every issue and it really shows in the final product each and every time you pick up an issue.
I’m really looking forward to reading the final addition to the “So Mote it Be” story arc in my upcoming review of issue #52, and find myself unable to get enough when it comes to the enchanting world of Tarot: Witch of The Black Rose. Remarkable writing complimented by astounding artwork this is one series that has forever made itself a place on my list of top notch indie comics. If you have not yet experienced an issue of Tarot: Witch of The Black Rose do your senses a favor and pick one up as soon as humanly possible.
