Issue #42 comes with a bonus treat for readers with a cross over issue featuring the lovely lades of Little Kittens Purrfect Weapons called “Hex in The City”. After having a premonition of a grand tower and an explosion decimating New York City Tarot and Skeleton Man, rush to Kitty City after fingering it as the location of the bomb in question. Things appear to be more complicated once they arrive and discover the Kittens battling over a black bag against Latex Red and her band of crazy comrades.
The artwork steals the show in this issue with such a large array of eye catching and imagination-capturing characters I thought my eyes would explode out of my skull due to visual overload. My first exposure to the world of Little Kittens Purrfect Weapons another series from Jim Balent & Holly Golightly I now find myself dying to pick up some issues to learn more about the Kittens and am officially a total Broadsword Comics addict.
Taking a stab at terrorism with a very fitting ending in my eyes this issue is one of many examples of why this series is amazing and should be experienced by any fans of indie comic books. Erotica infused with horror, romance, action, and looks into Pagan religion Tarot: Witch of The Black Rose excels in keeping things interesting and fresh a problem with many other comic book series that tend to run out of ideals and start repeating the same old same old scenarios again and again. I can honestly say I have never read two issues of Tarot: Witch of The Black Rose that felt similar or uninspired each time I open up a issue from this series I’m given the gift of a unique and always entertaining adventure.
I really enjoyed this crossover issue and am looking forward to diving deeper into the world of Little Kittens Purrfect Weapons and as always counting the moments before I get my next fix of the magical world of Tarot: Witch of The Black Rose. Broadsword Comics has become one of my favorite indie publishers and continues to impress me with their solid displays of both story telling and mind melting artwork time and time again.
