Oh yeah this one is off the cuff truly has a feel of being a subliminal dream, the universe as a hologram. So you spend your day wondering what you are doing, where you are going, and who is important to you. Meet David Boring, probably the luckiest and unluckiest person ever to walk the face of the earth. In this book we get a segment of David’s life, sex, death, murder, rejection, friendship, and people who move out because they cannot deal with the reality they have, so they move away. For Eightball this is the strongest and best developed comic book from them in a while, and it is really cool to read. 32 pages of simple madness, with some sexy bits thrown in making this an adult title in case you were wondering, yes there is nudity involved here. If you can’t have sex in a comic where else are you going to do it? For people who do not like this kind of stuff, you might want to pass on this title.
What makes this interesting, besides the underground look and feel is that it has three well developed and complete story lines that mesh nicely into the last pages. The art is lightly drawn with almost no heavy lines; you sink into this comic and find yourself engrossed with what is happening. Or you just skip to the naughty bits and leave it at that. No matter how you read the comic book, make sure you read the last few pages to make sure you get the final close on the story lines. Spoilers – did David really have a kid or is that something that will pop up later in another issue of Eightball? That will be something that will be worth finding out. If your best girl skips town, then it might not be an impossibility that she got pregnant and did not want to have you around at all. I see child support checks in the future if not a long drawn out custody battle.
This is a great jumping in point for people who might not have heard of this title before, and you are getting a well developed stand-alone story in this issue. The issue explores a lot of relationship issues, something all of us have seen at one point or another in our lives. Rating this a five of five star comic book, the drawing was neat, clean and not inked to death. The story line is realistic and enjoyable, there is nudity and sex involved in the comic book so if you do not want to read it because of that then you are missing a relationship comic book that you really should not miss. This was a very enjoyable comic book and well worth picking up anywhere.
