BlueWater Comics
In the time I have been reading comics, never have I encountered such a poorly executed issue. Not to say that it was all bad, but, there was far less good than terrible within these pages. The plot is scattered showing some scenes that didn’t seem to fit in with the rest and the print quality is greatly lacking. Having read many BlueWater comics in the past, the problems with the publication of this issue shocked me. The blurriness, improper alignment of panels, and visible pixels within are eye rotting. Needless to say it took some effort to decode the plot and art through the blur leaving me more exhausted then entertained by the end.
The issue follows Titan, a close friend of Emma’s (aka Muse), who has a hit placed on him by his father. Two femme-bot babes are hired for the job and in their first attempt they had failed to kill him. Titan’s father then gives them an ultimatum, their lives or his sons. In an attempt to save themselves an untimely demise, they lead both Muse and Titan into a trap where he is stabbed and then bombed to death. Muse survives the battle and holds a ceremony in remembrance of her beloved friend. On the final page it is revealed that Titan is still alive and is being held under water in a coma by his father.
Through all the flaws there is one aspect of this comic that is greatly appreciated, the art. Although it is at times hard to understand and see everything in the panels due to the quality of the print, the art itself is admirable and eye catching. It is consistent and text appropriate. The appearance of Muse was very sleek and sexy with a touch of bad ass – something I, like most, love in a female character.
This was a hard read, which is unfortunate because it was something I was looking forward to going over. I cannot justify any specific rating for this comic because I think it could have been a bit better without the fuzz. I would recommend this issue to preexisting 10th Muse fans, but, I would not introduce someone to this series with 10th Muse: The Lost Chapters #1.
