Mercy Dante travels deeper into hell as she searches for the “Priest”, the one person who might have the answers that she is looking for, the one who understands what wrath is all about and how that can influence people. The Priest is on the 3rd level of hell, that place set aside for those who have serious issues with revenge and wrath. The angry, the hateful, the people who ended up hating everything because they could. The one specter that can lead her deeper into the confines of hell to solve the mystery that is Mercy Dante. The Priest though has a special surprise waiting for visitors, one that will take all the powers that Mercy has to get out of the trap in one piece.
Overall, this gripping comic book kept me on the edge of my seat (figuratively). Dante’s Inferno has a deep resonance with me, as I have read the book itself, and in many ways Zenescope’s Inferno is somewhat faithful to the overall story line. The drawing is impeccable in that you can feel that this is something that is real, how many of us believe in heaven and hell? How many of us would be willing to traverse hell to find the answers that we are looking for. Then how many of us would be willing to accept those answers once we have found them. The Priest is absolutely creepy and wonderfully rendered against the main character Mercy. As a guide he is terrifying, and as a role model, well you do not want to be him, there are better things to do than spend an eternity in the third ring of hell.
This is another well done series from Zenescope, and while the covers are awesome, they also have the limited edition covers that are 500 copies in printing. If you want anything, you probably want the limited edition cover to go along with the reading copy you will get. Done in the standard well done, exquisitely drawn, and believable formats that are the Zenescope hallmark, this is a series that is worth adding to your collection. The cheesecake cover is below from Fan Expo.
