A1 Atomeka Big Issue 0
Oh yeah, if you love early Alan Moore like Halo Jones and his work on AD 2000, you need to check out A1 Big Issue 0 by Atomeka Press. While the comic was originally published in 2004, you can still find the occasional copy floating around here and there. The Atomeka reprint pulled the best of the original A1 prints and pushed them into a highlight printing. You get the best without wasting time with stuff that will bore you along the way. Little of it is actually boring, but in the longer run, if you love older school comics, a little science fiction and something that reads closer to an acid trip than anything lucid, then you want to check this series out.
Probably the coolest and most lucid of the stories in the book is survivor. While we are all familiar with the Superman Archetype, survivor takes a more bitter approach to being an alien on Earth and never really being able to fit in, no matter how hard someone tries. Abandoning the heritage that the alien was born with in favor of the host countries culture never seems to work. The more bizarre story is the flaming carrot man fighting off moon invaders where the story jumps around without really making sense. That and a guy with a flaming carrot for a head, that is just not a great way to go through life, and the story basically proves the point by being so disjointed.
In all this is a great series to pick up, if you can find it, ebay and amazon have copies, but they are going for a premium right now, as they are getting rarer to find.
